Question 1

Does Cerages manufacture stoneware under the buyer's own brand?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cerages works almost exclusively on a private label and OEM basis. Shapes, glazes, packaging and the backstamp on the base of each piece are produced to the customer's specification, so the finished product carries the buyer's brand identity, not ours.

Question 2

What is the difference between stoneware and other ceramic bodies?

Accepted Answer

Stoneware is fired at high temperature until the clay body vitrifies. The result is a dense, low-porosity ceramic that resists thermal shock, chipping and staining far better than earthenware, which makes it the natural choice for ovenware, roasting pans and daily-use tableware.

Question 3

How many glaze finishes can Cerages produce?

Accepted Answer

Our glaze library holds more than 1,300 developed colours, available in solid or reactive versions and in glossy or matt finishes. New glazes can also be developed in our in-house laboratory from a physical reference or a colour standard supplied by the customer.

Question 4

Is Cerages stoneware oven, microwave and dishwasher safe?

Accepted Answer

Our standard stoneware bodies and glazes are formulated for oven, microwave, dishwasher and freezer use, and are tested for food-contact compliance. Specific performance declarations are issued per project, according to the destination market's regulations.

Question 5

Where is Cerages located and which markets does it supply?

Accepted Answer

Cerages produces in the industrial park of Mortágua, in central Portugal, and supplies retailers, distributors, hospitality groups and design brands across Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania.
